St. Peter’s Church

This is St. Peter’s Church, the oldest church in Munich, dating back to 1180. Its been altered several times over the centuries, which explains the mix of architecture found inside—from Gothic to Baroque to Rococo. Among its treasures are works by Zimmermann, one of Bavaria’s most renowned architects. Like many of the city’s landmarks, St. Peter’s Church was heavily damaged during World War II. Thanks to years of careful restoration, visitors can once again admire its rich interior and historic character. Most people head straight to the top of the tower, where a beautiful panoramic view awaits you, offering sights over the city, the surrounding region, and even the Alps on a clear day!
