The Old Town Hall

Standing in front of the famous Old Town Hall, just a few steps away from the new one, you’re probably thinking that it looks more recent than its neighbour! It was built in the 14th century and retains many medieval features, including its wooden ceiling and decorative beams. Even its renovation in 1864 happened before the construction of the New Town Hall! Over the centuries, it has been struck by lightning, ravaged by fire, and damaged by bombs during the Second World War. It has undergone several restorations, yet its grand ballroom has never been destroyed. Today, its 56-metre-high tower houses the Toy Museum, a delightful stop for visitors of all ages, featuring a collection of historical toys.
