Viktualienmarkt

Welcome to Munich’s largest food market! Originally located on Marienplatz, the market has since expanded into the surrounding streets and covers nearly 140 different stalls. Florists, fruit and vegetable vendors, cheesemongers, fishmongers—you’ll find them all in this lively and welcoming spot in the heart of the Bavarian capital. This is the perfect place to sample some regional specialties! Among the most popular are Spätzle, fresh egg pasta with cheese; Leberkäse, also known as Bavarian ham loaf; and the unmissable Brezn, or pretzel. You’ll likely come across some of Bavaria’s world-famous beer—after all, the region boasts the highest concentration of breweries in the world and is home to one of the biggest beer festivals on the planet: Oktoberfest!
