We would like to take a moment to briefly introduce you to other points of interest that we weren't able to squeeze into our itinerary. Around Fira, there are countless villages and landscapes waiting to be explored. Just to the north, the villages of Firostefani and Imerovigli offer spectacular views of the caldera. From Imerovigli, you can follow a trail to Skaros Rock, the ruins of a Venetian fortress that still rises dramatically above the Aegean. A little further on, Pyrgos, perched on a hill, reveals its medieval charm with cobbled alleys and Byzantine churches, while Megalochori enchants visitors with its quiet squares, shaded courtyards, and traditional wine cellars. Emporio, one of the island’s oldest villages, preserves a fascinating fortified quarter where you can still wander through a maze of medieval lanes. To the south, you won’t want to miss Akrotiri, the so-called “Pompeii of the Aegean,” where the remains of a Minoan city buried by the eruption have been uncovered. Nearby lie Santorini’s striking beaches: Red Beach, framed by towering lava cliffs, White Beach, a hidden cove accessible only by boat, and the long black-sand stretches of Perissa, Perivolos, and Kamari—perfect for a swim or a meal at one of the lively tavernas along the shore. For a breathtaking view over the whole island, head up to the Monastery of the Prophet Elias, built on Santorini’s highest peak. And of course, no visit would be complete without Oia, the island’s most famous village, with its winding alleys, blue domes, and legendary sunsets. Well, with all this, you've got plenty of things to do, if you feel like staying in the area for a while.
