That massive bronze figure perched dramatically on the edge of the cliff, somewhere between an eagle and a falcon, is a Turul—a mythical guardian spirit in Hungarian legend and a powerful national symbol. According to the famous legend of Emese, it was the Turul who protected Álmos, the legendary ancestor of Hungary’s royal dynasty. It’s a striking blend of art, mythology, and history—an impressive sight that perfectly rounds off the walk along the former Royal Palace.
