Church of San Martino

You’re now standing in front of a church built in the 13th century. Its architecture looked quite different back then, and its façade was redesigned in the Gothic style in 1879 by the architect Modonesi. Over time, the church has undergone many transformations to become what it is now. Originally built for the Carmelite order, the Church of San Martino features a single nave flanked by elegant chapels, famed for their decorative richness. Inside, you’ll find beautiful frescoes and paintings that showcase the refined yet powerful style typical of Gothic architecture. It’s well worth stepping inside to admire its precious artworks, and don’t miss the organ, known for its intricate design and its excellent acoustics.
