San Miniato Gate

You're now walking under the 14th century San Miniato Gate. Unlike most city gates, this one doesn’t have a tower. Instead, its main feature is a simple walkway where guards would stand, watching over the area. This gate leads to Michelangelo Square. Back in the day, it led all the way to the San Miniato al Monte Basilica, a bit further up, with lovely panoramic views of the city.
