To your left is the Pinacoteca Nazionale di Bologna, the city’s National Art Gallery. A pinacoteca is a painting museum, and this one is among the most important in Bologna. Its collection offers a nearly complete overview of Bolognese and Emilian paintings, spanning from the 13th to the 18th century. It’s considered one of the largest art collections in Europe! The museum is housed in a building dating back to the first half of the 18th century, which was later renovated to become one of the most modern national galleries in Europe. If you have the slightest interest in painting, make sure to step inside, it’s well worth the few euros you’ll pay at the entrance!
