The San Polo District

Venice is made up of six districts. The smallest, and one of the oldest districts is right beneath your feet. Welcome to San Polo! According to legend, back in Antiquity the city’s first inhabitants decided to settle here, as this compact area was saved from flooding. San Polo has been a heart of community and commerce since the very beginning. In 1907, it became home to the Rialto Market, a Venetian institution still going strong today. Alongside its trendy shops and restaurants, the market gives the district a vibrant and bustling atmosphere. If you’re wondering what to see or visit, we’re sure you’ll find plenty to enjoy between the iconic Rialto Bridge, the charming palaces and hidden churches.
