You're now before the entrance to the French Academy in Rome. It was founded in 1666 by Louis XIV, and has been housed in the Villa Medici since 1803. The academy supports artists and researchers, and it's also responsible for the upkeep of the villa and its gardens. You can't see it from here, but you can go ahead and visit it to discover its sumptuous architecture, private apartments and famous gardens offering a fantastic view of Rome.
