Alley of the Toads

Welcome to Callejón de los Sapos, literally “Alley of the Toads”, a name it truly lives up to! Back in colonial times, this little street was often overrun with toads after heavy rains caused the nearby river to flood. That’s actually why you’ll spot a fountain topped with a toad just a bit further down the square. These days, every Sunday the alley comes alive with a popular antiques and craft market. Lined with beautiful, colorful buildings, it’s considered one of the most charming streets in Puebla. And when the sun goes down, the bars and restaurants along the alley keep the energy going with lively music. It’s a great spot to grab a drink or try some local dishes while soaking in the city’s festive vibe.
