Latin American Tower

You’re standing in front of one of Mexico’s most famous towers: the Torre Latinoamericana! Upon its completion in 1956, it was the tallest tower in the country until the WTC Tower surpassed it in 1984. However, it still remains one of the most emblematic landmarks in Mexico City. The tower was named after the insurance company that occupied it until 1960. With 44 floors and rising 183 meters high, it offers a breathtaking view of the city and the surrounding mountains—a different point of view of Mexico City! Notably, it was the first skyscraper to be ever built on seismic ground, meaning that architects and engineers had to find innovative solutions to make the project viable and safe. Impressively, it withstood the devastating 1985 earthquake, which had a magnitude of 8.1, proving to be an achievement well ahead of its time. Today, the tower houses offices, a museum, exhibition halls, and of course, a spectacular observation deck that continues to attract visitors from all around the world.
