We'd like to take a quick break from your visit to introduce all the other points of interest that we weren't able to include in the itinerary. To complete your discovery of the Ochre City, don't hesitate to visit the Majorelle Garden, located to the northwest of the Medina. This magnificent botanical garden once belonged to the famous Yves Saint Laurent. Adjacent to the garden is the museum dedicated to this great French fashion designer, where you can admire the greatest works of this passionate and fascinating man. The museum is housed in an ultra-modern building, offering a truly immersive insight into his life. In the same neighbourhood as the Majorelle garden and the museum, you will also have the opportunity to visit Marrakech's modern district, called Guéliz. Also known as the new city, it was built in 1912. There, you will see modern buildings, Art Deco buildings and numerous art galleries, lining the main avenues that make the district. If you're seeking tranquillity and relaxation, you can head for the Ménara gardens, located out of the historic centre. It's the ideal place to unwind and enjoy some peace and quiet in the greenery. After visiting the city and its Medina, I can only recommend a trip to Marrakech's palm grove. With over 100,000 palm trees, it was designed in the 11th century by the Almoravids at the foot of the Atlas mountains, creating a unique and authentic oasis where Moroccan flora and fauna are omnipresent. If you feel like cooling off on a hot summer's day, head for Oasiria Marrakech, Morocco's first water park, with dozens of attractions for young and old alike. Alternatively, you can spend a day or more exploring the surrounding area. One of the highlights of the region is a hike through the Agafay desert, which is a rock desert. It's a delight for outdoor enthusiasts, and there are lots of activities on offer to explore it. Don't miss a visit to Lalla Takerkoust, a village at the gateway to the Agafay desert, which features a lake ideal for bathing on hot days. Although it is forbidden to swim there, there are several beaches where you can lay down your towel and soak up the sun. For those with vehicles who wish to go further afield, consider exploring the Ourika valley, around 1 hour's drive away. This beautiful natural oasis in the heart of the Atlas Mountains boasts magnificent scenery, impressive waterfalls and traditional Berber villages. Ouzoud waterfalls can be found further away, but are famous throughout the country, making them a great idea for a day out. These waterfalls, which are 110 metres high and located 150 km from Marrakech, are considered to be the most impressive in North Africa. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, they are one of Morocco's landmarks. Well, with all this, you've got plenty of things to do, if you feel like staying in the area for a while.
