The Almoravid Koubba, or qubba al-Baadiyn, is the only vestige still standing of an Almoravid construction, the people who founded Marrakech. This dome was built around the years 1120-1130, which makes it one of the oldest monuments of the city. Despite its modest size, it testifies to a remarkable refinement: interlaced arches, carved floral and geometric motifs, ribbed dome. Long buried under more recent constructions, it was rediscovered in the twentieth century. It served for ablutions and remains a precious witness of the origins of Marrakech.
