The Port of Bergen

You’re now standing on part of Bergen’s historic harbour. To your left is Havrommet, a covered market open every other Saturday and transformed into a charming Christmas market in December. The white building on your right is a performance venue, also serving as a rehearsal space for local musicians. In the warmer months, people gather on the outdoor terrace of the bar to enjoy the sun and sea breeze. From the outside, the building is a striking piece of street art, its walls are covered in bold, colourful murals. Many of them face the water and carry powerful anti-war messages. You’ll also see boats moored along the docks all around you, a constant reminder of Bergen’s international port. From the end of the pier, you’ll get a panoramic view of the Bryggen district, with its neatly aligned, colourful houses reflected in the water.
