Built between 1709 and 1739, this religious gem pays tribute to the art of azulejos—iconic Portuguese ceramic tiles. The stunning blue-and-white tilework was created by none other than Jorge Colaço, the same artist behind the breathtaking interiors of São Bento Station. No doubt about it—you’re definitely in Portugal! The tiled scenes depict episodes from the life of Saint Ildefonso, the church’s patron, as well as allegories of the Christian sacrament of the Eucharist.
