Let’s take a quick break in your visit to highlight a few more must-see spots that couldn’t be included in the itinerary. If you're looking for a moment of peace surrounded by nature, head to Doramas Park, one of the most beautiful green spaces in Las Palmas. You’ll find palm trees, colourful gardens, fountains and wide grassy areas—perfect for a stroll, a picnic, or catching a live outdoor show on a Sunday. If you’re still in the mood for a bit of culture, I highly recommend visiting the Castle of Light, or Castillo de la Luz. It’s not far from the port and was built back in 1494 to defend the island from enemy attacks. Today, it's classified as a national historic monument and well worth a look. If the sun’s out and you’ve got a bit of free time, why not head to Las Canteras Beach? It’s in Las Palmas and is considered one of the best urban beaches in Europe. With its beautiful setting, year-round warm weather and endless activities—like swimming, diving, surfing or kayaking—it’s a great spot to relax or have some fun. To top it all off, there are plenty of restaurants and bars nearby where you can grab a drink or dinner with a view of the sea. For the hiking fans and nature lovers, don't miss the Caldera de Bandama, a huge volcanic crater that rises 569 metres above sea level. The area around it is packed with scenic trails and amazing views—and it’s accessible by car too. Looking for a quick trip out of the city? Just 12 kilometres from Las Palmas, you’ll find the town of Arucas, easily reached by bus. It’s known for its impressive 19th-century buildings and a neo-Gothic church with the tallest bell tower in the Canaries. Just a bit further, about 20 minutes by car, there’s Teror, a charming little town famous for its traditional Canarian architecture, a beautiful basilica, and colourful old houses. It’s perfect for a peaceful getaway. So there you have it, plenty of places to discover if you’re planning to spend a few days exploring the area!
