Advice

For a final stop in your visit, I’ll introduce you to several other points of interest that couldn’t be included into the main itinerary. Outside Palma’s old town, but absolutely worth seeing, is the Castell de Bellver. This 14th-century castle, once home to the Kings of Majorca, is perched on a hill overlooking the city.

A visit here offers a double reward: stunning Gothic Mediterranean architecture — unique in Spain — and a 360° panoramic view of the city, the sea, and the Tramuntana mountains. To all art lovers, it’s in Palma that the Catalan artist Joan Miró, whose wife Pilar Juncosa was born in Mallorca, lived for 30 years. The Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró, located in their former house and studio, immerses you in Miró’s personal universe and lets you experience his work like never before.

If you’re up for a journey back in time, hop on the Ferrocarril de Sóller, a charming wooden train that connects Palma to the village of Sóller, 27 km away. Inaugurated in 1912, it’s now one of Palma’s most beloved attractions and offers a scenic route through Mallorca’s picturesque inner land. Nature lovers and fans of wide-open landscapes will be thrilled when visiting the Serra de Tramuntana, a mountain range running from north to south and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

It offers the most breathtaking landscapes on the island. Its winding roads are a paradise for cyclists and motorcyclists, and its stone villages are hidden gems nestled among fragrant orchards in the hills. Don’t miss Biniaraix and Fornalutx, the monastery of Lluc, or Cap Formentor, where the mountains meet the sea in what feels like the edge of the world.

With all this, you’ve got plenty to explore if you decide to stay a little longer in the region.
