A cabinet of curiosities

Set in the Casa-Palacio de los Condes de la Conquista, the museum was founded by Juan Antonio Lara, a passionate collector who devoted his life to gathering rare objects and curiosities. More than two thousand pieces are brought together there: old clockmaking, historic weapons, scientific instruments, early cameras, typewriters or period jewellery. Going through the rooms, one crosses a veritable cabinet of curiosities where each object tells a story of technique, art or daily life. The basement presents a darker section, devoted to witchcraft and the Inquisition, with instruments and reconstitutions evoking troubling episodes of the history of Spain, to be approached with gravity.
