San Telmo park
The Las Palmas audio-guided tour leads you to San Telmo park, a small square not to be missed in the Triana district. Shaded by palms and magnolias, it offers an ideal setting to relax, read or stroll, at the entrance to the city's pedestrian area.
A picturesque garden
At the centre of the park, a bandstand gives the place all its character, as does the Art Deco cafe that has served the people of the Canaries since 1923. Concerts, fashion shows and exhibitions are regularly held there, and every Sunday morning a flea market spreads out around it. A little further on stands the Ermita de San Telmo, a small Baroque chapel dedicated to navigators and fishermen, which is approached with respect.
What there is to see
With its palms, its paved ground, its bandstand and its chapel, San Telmo park is quite typical of the Canary Islands. Located at the exit of the underground bus station and at the entrance to the pedestrian Triana street, it is a pleasant gateway to the historic centre. It is one of the most appreciated green spaces in Las Palmas.
Practical information
San Telmo park can be seen freely, in the open air, in the Triana district, at the entrance to the pedestrian area. It is accessible at any time and free of charge. The Sunday morning flea market and the bandstand events vary with the calendar; the Ermita de San Telmo, a place of worship, follows its own hours.
