Initially very traditional, even almost without particular interest, the district of the arts, as we also like to call it here, long remained a neglected zone, between the port and the historic centre. It is thanks to the collective Malaga Arte Urbano Soho, the MAUS, that everything changed for the better. Several street artists, local and international, have made these axes their open-air studio: walls, even entire façades, have become their canvases, on which graffiti and more elaborate works have been deposited. Among the most famous figures the Malaga Loves Art, as well as great frescoes signed by world-renowned artists, like Obey, whose real name is Shepard Fairey, or D-Face, who have contributed to making Soho a reference of street art in Spain. Along the lanes, you thus discover an open-air museum in perpetual evolution, where each corner of wall can hold a colourful surprise. The district also shelters galleries, artist studios, theatres, cafés and trendy restaurants, in a creative and relaxed atmosphere.
