Triana District

Triana is one of the most fascinating and picturesque districts in Las Palmas. It’s also one of the oldest, founded in the 15th century alongside the neighbouring district of Vegueta by Juan Rejón, the governor sent by the Catholic Monarchs. Over time, especially between the 18th and 20th centuries, Triana became the city’s bourgeois hub, as wealthy merchants settled here and built elegant homes. The area is now filled with beautifully coloured buildings and grand architectural gems that give it a distinctly refined and stylish charm. Its name is a tribute to the famous Triana district in Seville. Many Andalusians settled in the Canary Islands starting in the 15th century, and they brought the architectural and cultural influences of southern Spain with them. Today, Triana is a lively spot, known for its history, beauty, shops, restaurants, and bars.
