The merchants' street

This historic street takes its origins from trade and the maritime world. There you find fine bourgeois houses where wealthy Andalusian, English, Danish or Maltese merchants once lived. The buildings, dating from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, now house many shops. Entirely pedestrian and about six hundred metres long, the street was listed as a national historic monument in 1993.
