A jewel of Swedish Baroque

Built between 1662 and 1673 for the Bonde family, the palace was designed by two great architects of the time, Nicodemus Tessin the Elder and Jean de la Vallee. At its inauguration, it was among the most prestigious private residences in Stockholm, with its solemn facade, its side wings and its inner courtyard, which asserted the power of its owners.

The Bonde Palace, with its ordered facade and its characteristic roof, illustrates the splendour of the Swedish aristocracy at the time of the kingdom's great power. Now housing the Supreme Court of Sweden, it can be admired from Riddarhustorget square, where it dialogues with the nearby House of Nobility, in one of the finest Baroque ensembles of Stockholm.

The Bonde Palace is on Riddarhustorget square, in the old town of Stockholm. The facade can be seen freely from the square. As the building houses the Supreme Court, interior access is not open to tourist visits; you admire its architecture from the outside.
