A balcony over the old town

Laid out in tribute to Theodore Agrippa d'Aubigne, writer, poet, historian and actor of Protestantism, this terrace at the chevet of the Cathedral of Saint-Pierre connects, over two levels, the top of the old town to the lower streets. From there, the gaze embraces the roofs of Geneva and glimpses, further off on the bay, the famous water jet. In the foreground stands the Madeleine temple, one of the oldest churches of the city, whose bell tower preserves an old clock, listed as a protected historic object although it no longer works quite right. With its contemporary style and its Japanese cherry trees, the terrace offers a peaceful setting, to the sound of the cathedral bells, ideal for a pause away from the bustle of the centre.
