The Kunstmuseum Basel continues this artistic journey with a vast collection covering several centuries, from the Middle Ages to modern art, reflecting the important role the city has played in the art world. To enjoy the Rhine, the Mittlere Brücke is an emblematic bridge linking the two banks and offering beautiful views over the old town and the daily life unfolding along the river. Nearby, the Basel Paper Mill takes visitors into the history of paper making and printing inside a former mill, where you can discover the techniques once used. The St. Alban-Tal district offers a quieter atmosphere, with canals, narrow streets and historic houses, ideal for a walk away from the busy center. South of the city, the Merian Gärten provide a large green space with gardens, meadows and greenhouses, perfect for a peaceful break. Just across the German border, the Vitra Design Museum attracts lovers of architecture and design with its striking modern buildings and exhibitions dedicated to everyday objects and their evolution. Further north, the Dreiländereck marks the meeting point of Switzerland, France and Germany, a simple but symbolic place along the Rhine where you can stroll while watching the river flow. Finally, about fifteen kilometers to the east, the site of Augusta Raurica takes visitors back to Roman times with the remains of an ancient city, including a Roman theater, archaeological ruins and a museum dedicated to daily life during that period. With all this, you have plenty of reasons to spend a little more time exploring the region.
