The oldest park of the city

Laid out at the beginning of the nineteenth century, the Parc des Bastions hosted the first Botanical Garden of Geneva. With its long shaded alleys, its lawns and its outdoor games, it today delights the inhabitants. One finds there in particular giant chessboards, where chess enthusiasts compete in the open air. The park houses several emblematic monuments, including the famous Reformers' Wall, as well as the University of Geneva and the Eynard palace, formerly used as a town hall. Bordered by the old town and the Plaine de Plainpalais, it is a real green lung in the heart of the city, conducive both to walking and to the events that take place there throughout the year.

What there is to see

The Parc des Bastions charms with its shaded alleys, its giant chessboards and its monuments, including the Reformers' Wall. One comes across the University of Geneva and the Eynard palace, in a green and peaceful setting. It is a pleasant stop a stone's throw from the centre, between nature, history and local life.

The Parc des Bastions is at the foot of the old town, near the Place de Neuve, in Geneva. A public park in free access, it is generally open every day, according to seasonal hours to be checked on site.
