The Moses Fountain

You’re in front of yet another colorful fountain statue, and this time, it's depicting Moses. The fountain was first built in 1544 but was damaged in a storm and later rebuilt in the 1790s. It shows Moses holding the tablets of the Ten Commandments, which he received from God on Mount Sinai. There are also two rays of light coming from his head. This detail comes from the Book of Exodus, which says that after his encounter with God, Moses’s skin became radiant. Like all the fountains you’ve seen today, this one is officially recognised as a Swiss cultural asset of national importance.
