Bách Thảo Park

Hanoi’s Botanical Garden, is a tranquil green space in the middle of the city. Established in the late 19th century under French administrator Paul Bert, it is one of the oldest gardens in Hanoi. Its name, Bách Thảo, literally means “hundred plants,” reflecting the park’s rich biodiversity. It is home to over 300 plant species, including rare orchids, giant ficus trees, and Sưa trees, a true botanical treasure of Vietnam. Among its highlights is a century-old tree that blooms spectacularly each March. The park used to be a zoo before it was turned into a botanical garden. Today, it is a place for both relaxation and learning, with shady paths, a picturesque lake, and quiet spots perfect for reflection. It also serves as a vital green space, helping to improve the city’s air and providing a peaceful escape from the surrounding streets.
