"Sacrifice for the Fatherland" Monument

This white marble sculpture depicts three figures: a woman holding a sword, a kneeling man with a rifle, and another man raising a torch. Together, they represent the commitment of the Vietnamese people — men and women alike — in the struggle for independence during the twentieth century. The torch stands for hope and passing on ideals, the weapons remind us of the fight, and the woman represents the crucial role of women in the resistance. Built in the 80s, the monument is set in a quiet area, meant for reflection rather than flashy, “attention-grabbing display.
