Vietnamese Women’s Museum

We’ll turn left here, but if you walk a little further, you’ll reach the entrance to the Vietnamese Women’s Museum. Run by the Vietnam Women’s Union, it is entirely dedicated to women’s roles in Vietnamese history, culture, and society, from ancient traditions to the present day. With more than 28,000 objects, the museum highlights their role in family life, their involvement in the struggle for independence, and the many ways they shape everyday life across the country. The museum is spread over several floors. You start with family life and everyday traditions — birth and marriage rituals and ancestor worship — then move on to the stories of major female figures and resistance fighters who shaped the wars of the twentieth century. Another floor explores clothing and textile traditions across Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups, with an impressive range of costumes, embroidery, and craft techniques. The museum is designed in a modern, accessible way, using personal stories, photographs, and everyday objects to make the experience both informative and emotionally impactful.
