As a sample: the piano festival, world music or the Electronic Siestas... A beautiful symphony for all music lovers, regardless of style and preferences.
On the cinema side, festivals propel Toulouse onto the international scene. Many of them have been held for more than 10, 20, 30 years. Some names to note without delay: Cinélatino, Africlap, Cinespaña, the Israeli Cinema Spring and for children, Cinéminots.
You'll agree, culture is quite central in Toulouse's programming. In parallel and in another register, you'll find more popular events, but equally notable. A bit like the Toulouse Carnival or the Nocturne of Victor Hugo Market. We highly recommend the latter, especially for gourmets!

Our selection of recurring events
For a superb outing idea in Toulouse, there will always be sporting events (revolving around rugby, of course). The season dates vary from year to year, but we strongly invite you to attend, if the opportunity arises. Inquire shortly before your arrival to book your seats.
1.The Toulouse Carnival
Date or period: In spring, for one week.
Access: Free
Description: The Toulouse Carnival has been organized every year since 1982 by the cleverly named COCU (Unified Carnival Organization Committee). On this occasion, a three-hour parade circulates through the city streets passing by Place Esquirol and Pont Neuf. The whole event is animated by concerts, brass bands and flamboyant performances. An ideal way to discover the Occitan capital in all its effervescence!
Good to know: If you're arriving from outside Toulouse or staying in the nearby periphery, park near a metro to do the rest of the route. Traffic gets tense during carnival, not to mention parking. The metro will spare you an endless wait in the car, far from the festivities.
2. The Occitania Festival
Date or period: In October, for one month.
Access: Free
Description: The Occitania Festival is an event organized since 2000 by the Institute of Occitan Studies of Haute-Garonne. It aims to honor the Occitan language and culture through animations, concerts, conferences, traditional dances, theater plays or exhibitions in various places in Toulouse and its department. Ideal for understanding this endangered heritage!
3. The Spring of Laughter

Date or period: For 15 days, between March and April.
Access: Paid €
Description: Created in 1983, the Spring of Laughter is the very first European humor festival. For a truly accessible price, the Spring of Laughter allows Toulousains for a day or forever, to tour the venues of the Pink City. Attend the new shows of the big names of the French scene while wandering through Toulouse, in a joyful and relaxed atmosphere!
