A market of local flavours

The market building was constructed at the beginning of the twentieth century, but a covered market already existed at this site for many years. It is here that one discovers the emblematic products of Guérande, beginning with its famous salt and its fleur de sel, gentler and more delicate, harvested by hand at the surface of the salt marshes during summer afternoons. One also finds salicornia, a marsh plant rich in minerals, the oysters, mussels and sardines of the Atlantic coast, the Brière beef from the neighbouring regional natural park, and sweets such as salted butter caramels and Niniches.
