Le Chalet du Parc
You have now arrived at Le Chalet du Parc. Located beside the lake, this place has been part of Lyon’s collective memory since the end of the 19th century. For many years, people came here to have lunch, enjoy a cup of tea, take in the surroundings, or simply spend time together in one of the park’s most pleasant settings. After more than ten years of closure, the Chalet has been given a new lease on life. Today, it is no longer just a renovated former restaurant: it is a lively, culinary, cultural, and environmentally focused place. Visitors can come here to eat, take part in a workshop, discover an exhibition, attend an event, organize a seminar, or settle in for a few hours in a slow-working atmosphere — a calmer and more enjoyable way of working away from the traditional office routine. The building was also designed to be water- and energy-positive. This means it aims to produce more energy than it consumes while greatly reducing its water needs through recycling: nearly 98% of the water used here is recycled. Even the professional kitchen follows this approach, with secondhand equipment designed to prevent waste and give existing materials a new life. The Chalet is therefore a concrete example of the circular economy, where resources are reused, shared, and waste is limited, but also of local cooperation, working with community partners to create a place that benefits the park, residents, and visitors. Inside, the restaurant is called "La Fabuleuse Cantine:" an eco-conscious canteen that transforms surplus food and unsold products from local partners into creative cuisine, with a focus on zero waste, responsible sourcing, and more sustainable eating. If you have some time, feel free to step inside to discover it, enjoy a meal, have a drink, or simply see how this place puts cuisine at the service of the local community and the park.
