A covered market since 1845

In the 1840s, the municipality decided to create a covered market in the very heart of Quimper. The vast location was found on the quays of the Steïr; one had previously to get rid of the ruins of the former Cordeliers convent, founded there in the thirteenth century. Brand new and much awaited, the Saint-François halls opened their doors around 1845 and were quickly integrated into the favourite places of Quimper social life. Rich in some one hundred and seventy-six years of history, they gather today the conviviality and the quality of the products of the city and its surroundings, in a warm atmosphere.
