Welcome to the charming Marienplatz square, where you’ll find both the New and Old Town Halls. The impressive building in front of you is the New Town Hall, built in the 19th century, when the original one became too small. Its famous glockenspiel, located in the tower, comes to life several times a day. It reenacts key moments from Munich’s history, such as the wedding of Duke Wilhelm in 1568 or the famous coopers' dance—a traditional celebration. This is one of the largest glockenspiels in Europe, featuring 43 bells weighing a total of seven tonnes. Every year, visitors from all over the world come to Munich to see it in action. Designed in an elegant neo-Gothic style, this splendid Town Hall is a must-see for any visitor!
