Ross Fountain

You can’t miss this striking bright-blue fountain, one of the most iconic landmarks in Princes Street Gardens and offering one of the finest views of Edinburgh Castle. Recently restored to its vibrant blue hue, the Ross Fountain was installed here in 1872 and has remained a symbol of the park ever since. Ten years earlier, it had been displayed at the Great Exhibition of 1862. That same year, arms manufacturer Daniel Ross purchased it and gifted it to the city of Edinburgh, which chose to place it here, with one of the world’s oldest medieval castles as its dramatic backdrop. A true work of art in the very heart of Edinburgh!
