Rosina’s Balcony

Seville has long been a dream destination for travellers, well before the days of low-cost flights. One of the most famous stories set here is The Barber of Seville written by Beaumarchais, a French playwright. It’s a timeless tale of love, disguise, and a clever servant named Figaro. We’re now standing beneath what’s known as Rosina’s balcony, just on the corner to your right. In the story, Count Almaviva tries to win Rosina’s heart, climbing up to her balcony in various disguises with Figaro’s help. Did this exact balcony inspire the tale? Probably not. No one really knows if the author ever set foot in Seville, and with so many beautiful balconies in this city, it’s impossible to say. But sometimes, legends just stick. Today, this is known as Rosina’s balcony—simple as that.
