San Telmo Museum

Once a small fishing village, San Sebastian is now one of Spain’s most famous seaside resorts. Step inside the museum and discover the traditions and customs of this city, located in the Basque Country, a region that spans both France and Spain and is known for its unique culture and identity. The museum has been here since 1932, housed inside a former Dominican convent, which is one of the few buildings that survived the great fire of 1813. The idea of creating a city museum had begun more than 30 years earlier. At first, the collection was displayed in a smaller building, but as it grew, a bigger space was needed. Today, it stands peacefully in an old cloister and invites visitors to explore the history of San Sebastian and the wider Gipuzkoa region in the Basque Country.
