But Troyes is also deeply rooted in its terroir, and Aube is proud of its products as well as its producers. Its gastronomy of course with Troyes andouillette, Chaource (cheese) and Prunelle de Troyes, but also its wine and champagne.
We have gathered for you the best vineyards in the region to visit near Troyes!

The vineyards to discover without delay!
The Champagne vineyard, delimited by a 1927 law, covers nearly 35,000 hectares spread over 319 communes. These are the "crus".
There can be more than 200 km between two Champagne vineyards, so you can imagine that the grape varieties will be very different depending on the weather and soils in which the vine will grow.
The vineyard is divided into 4 major wine regions, each having its particularities and character: the Montagne de Reims, the Vallée de la Marne, the Côte des Blancs and the Côte des Bars, as well as others, smaller ones, but just as interesting.
Aube, where the city of Troyes is located, possesses 23% of the Champagne vineyard with its Côte des Bars, as well as with its small but very interesting vineyard, the Montgueux vineyard.

The hill of Montgueux, located only 10 km from Troyes, brings an undeniable signature note to its appellation. This clay hill set on chalky soil, facing south/south-east, offers a magnificent Chardonnay terroir. It is indeed 90% of the production, with the remaining 10% being Pinot noir.

# 2 Côte des Bars Vineyard

The Côte des Bars, in Southern Champagne, is a characterful vineyard due to its clay and limestone soil and its milder climate than the rest of the Champagne region. Aube was only attached to Champagne in 1927, and since then the winemakers have been striving to prove the value of their estates.
The main grape varieties are Pinot noir (83%), Meunier and Chardonnay. 3 AOCs are produced there: Champagne, Coteau Champenois and the famous Rosé des Riceys, elaborated in a unique way in France! To discover, only on the Côte des Bars!
