1. Plage des Chalets Gruissan

Fans of the 80s will certainly have seen Jean-Jacques Beineix's film "Betty Blue", which immortalized forever this 2-km long fine sand beach with its mythical stilted chalets. It's true that it's original, but this beach primarily plays a very important role for local families who have, for some, owned a family chalet on this beach for several generations, and they wouldn't give it up for anything in the world!

Some are rented out in summer: worth noting for a vacation that won't lack originality. You'll have the pleasure of walking on the sand of one of the most beautiful beaches in Aude with the Clape massif as a backdrop. Azure blue sea, seagull laughter, shells, gentle sea spray... You can already imagine yourself there! Oyster tasting, stand-up paddle, jet ski, banana boat, sofa, buoy, flyboard... Water activities abound on this beach.

2. La plage de la Vieille Nouvelle à Gruissan

This wild beach west of Gruissan will undoubtedly be the favorite of nature lovers. Dunes and preserved natural areas make up this beach with incredible charm, the water is clear, the sand particularly fine, and the number of swimmers is fewer given the absence of facilities and supervision. Not forgetting to pick up your trash is very important so that this beach remains beautiful and wild for everyone's enjoyment.

Warning: the best way to reach la plage de la Vieille Nouvelle in Gruissan is to favor transport by bike or on foot from Camping Barberousse. Car accessibility is very poor: risk of getting stuck in sand and motor vehicles are prohibited on vegetated areas. It's a nature reserve near the Narbonnaise en Méditerranée Regional Natural Park.

La Plagette de Port-Leucate

Here's a beach that has to be earned! Traveling light and having good walking shoes is recommended to get down to this beach, the slope is quite steep and you have to descend irregular stairs from the top of the cliff to the beach. The most courageous will be able to enjoy a little corner of paradise located in a cove with turquoise waters and sheltered from the wind.

This beach is located in a protected Natura 2000 zone. Be careful not to crush or pick the small flowers that grow in the rocks.

Due to its Natura classification, the beach is not developed and it's not necessarily easy to find! The landmark is the panoramic restaurant, once parked, you have to walk 800m along a small path before finding the steps. It takes 30 minutes to go down all the steps and reach the beach, and just as long on the way back. Flip-flops are therefore to be avoided.
